Artist's Comments

Critique/comments welcome. I did a terrible job at turning the horse into any colour. I started off grey scale for a change, to see if it's easier... I suppose it adds more flexibility but I couldn't get the depth of colour I could if I started with it from scratch. Any tips on that especially are appreciated.

Beautiful work on this :) You can totally get the intensity of colour if needed, by varying the colours, using both warmer and darker than the base colour. Want me to have a play with this jpg? I've just been experimenting with colouring from the black and white and have achieved some very brilliant colours using the method :)

I meant that'd be great, oops.

Anyhow that's awesome, very dramatic xD I did try the whole... other colours thing (there's a bit of blue in the coat) but obviously I didn't go far enough. What looks clear to me seems to never be noticeable to other people XD Honestly I can't even see the blue now.
:iconceara:
Haha yeah, I was going for dramatic - but still have a lot to do >.<

You need to do more of the other colours. People and animals aren't just one colour. The values in shadow are really a lot cooler, and higlights are warmer - it's from the light hitting them.

I've had a play with the colours on your pic,and also added a bit of highlight [link]

I wasn't at all subtle, you could definitely make the value differences a bit more subtle, but this degree of colour change really makes it pop. If you want the psd, just grab me on msn and I'll transfer it through to you :)
